When installing apps and programs on your computer, one of the final options you'll encounter is usually "Add shortcut to Desktop." This option typically comes with a checkbox that allows you to choose whether or not to add an icon. I tend to leave this checkbox selected for apps I know I'll use frequently and unchecked for those I won't use as much. If you want to add a Windows 10 desktop shortcut during installation, it's a relatively straightforward process. However, not all programs will automatically install an icon on your desktop. Here are a few methods to manually add icons: Drag the icon from the Windows Start Menu.Right-click and select "Send to" > Desktop (create shortcut).Drag and drop the executable directly from the folder where it is installed. If you have already installed programs, you can still add Windows 10 desktop icons using one of these methods.
